Hero MotoCorp’s 250cc Supersport Will Not Be Launched In India; Here’s Why
Hero MotoCorp has revealed that the HX250R will not be launched in India.
India's largest two-wheeler manufacturer Hero MotoCorp showcased its concept supersport motorcycle, the HX250R at the 2014 Auto Expo.
Two years later, Hero MotoCorp unveiled the near production-spec avatar of the motorcycle finished in blue colour. The 'R' was trimmed, and the concept was named as HX250.
Now, it looks like Hero MotoCorp has dropped the plan of launching the HX250R in India. Yes, speaking to TOI, Chief Technology Officer of Hero MotoCorp, Markus Braunsperger has revealed this information, and he also clarified the reason behind this decision.

Braunsperger said, "The 250cc segment is more or less has been disappeared now and the bikes have moved to 300cc and even larger displacements." By looking at the current market trend, manufacturers are opting for 300cc motorcycles as opposed to 250cc. So, Hero MotoCorp has shelved the launch of HX250R in the country.
Speaking about the future products, Braunsperger said that the company would launch a more advanced and better motorcycle than the HX250R. He also said that the HX250R with new technology would not make sense in the current market.
The Hero HX250R in its concept avatar featured full fairing, twin-projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights, underbelly exhaust, clip-on handlebar, digital instrument cluster and step-up split seats. The motorcycle also came with segment-first dual riding modes - City and Sport.
Powering the HX250R was a 249cc fuel injected, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine producing 31bhp and 26Nm of torque. The engine was coupled to a 6-speed gearbox. Hero had claimed a 0-60km/h time of 2.7 seconds. Apart from that, the HX250R was equipped with telescopic forks up front and monoshock suspension at the rear.
DriveSpark Thinks!
Hero MotoCorp has an aggressive product strategy for India in the coming years. The company has released the demand of the market and has dropped the plan to launch the HX250R in India. Instead, the company will develop an all-new bike with new technology. Apart from that Hero will also introduce the Xtreme 200S in India.
