Harley-Davidson Preparing To Recall 57,000 Motorcycles — Is Your Bike On The List?

Harley-Davidson has issued a recall for a faulty oil line clamp after reports of accidents, which left one rider injured.

American motorcycle manufacturer Harley-Davidson is preparing to recall 57,138 touring motorcycles due to a faulty oil line clamp, that could have been fit improperly.

There have been numerous reports of the oil line detaching itself, pouring oil on the rear tyre, thus resulting in riders losing control of the motorcycle.

There have also been reports of accidents due to the faulty oil line clamp, and till date, three such cases have been reported. One of the crashes even resulted in the rider sustaining minor injuries.

The affected models are the touring motorcycles made between July 2, 2016, and May 9, 2017, including Electra Glide, Road King, Road Glide, and Street Glide models.

Harley-Davidson is expected to send letters to customers with the affected motorcycles and repairs will be carried out free of cost.

The American motorcycle manufacturer issued a statement, reading:
Based on this information, Harley-Davidson is voluntarily recalling approximately 57,138 vehicles that have been shipped worldwide that may have this condition. This is a voluntary recall by Harley-Davidson Motor Company in the interest of customer safety. Customer safety is our highest priority.
