India’s Only Ducati 1299 Superleggera Has Arrived, At A Price Of Rs 1.12 Crore
The rare, exotic Ducati 1299 Superleggera has been delivered to its owner in India for Rs 1.12 crore and is the sole motorcycle in India.
The Ducati 1299 Superleggera is one of the most advanced motorcycles of our time, and certainly the most exotic, exclusive, and extreme road-going motorcycle from Ducati, yet. What makes it exotic is not just the technology it uses or just the performance. The rarity factor too has a contribution to make here.
Only 500 units of the Ducati 1299 Superleggera will be built, making the motorcycle very rare indeed. All 500 motorcycles have been booked and just one of the 500 has made its way to India. The sole Ducati 1299 Superleggera ordered from India (Number 209 of the 500) has been delivered to its owner - motorcycle enthusiast and Joint Managing Director of the Oberoi Group of Hotels, Vikram Oberoi.
The 1299 Superleggera is the most technologically advanced motorcycle ever built by Ducati. It is equipped with a full electronics package which includes, Engine Brake Control (EBC), Ducati Traction Control Evo (DTC EVO), Ducati Slide Control (DSC), etc. This motorcycle is also the first one from Ducati to be equipped with Ducati Power Launch (DPL).
Superleggera is Italian speak for 'Superlight', and the 1299, true to the Superleggera name, is ultra light. It is the first production motorcycle to have the monocoque chassis, single-sided swingarm, rear subframe, fairing and wheels all made from carbon fibre. Just the wheel hubs are made of aluminium.
As a result of the generous carbon fibre usage, the 1299 has a dry weight of just 156 kgs, which is considered to be featherlight for the kind of power it has. The 1,285cc engine is the most powerful V-twin engine ever built, with a maximum power output of 215bhp. A combination of the two figures results in a power-to-weight ratio of over 1,430bhp per tonne. More than anything on wheels, which does not fly!
Vikram Oberoi, now the owner of the sole 1299 Superleggera in India was quoted as saying, "Ducati make exceptional motorcycles and it's a privilege for me to be one of Ducati's customer in India. There is no better motorcycle manufacturer when it comes to performance bikes or bikes ridden on a racetrack."
Vikram Oberoi is a passionate motorcyclist who owns a Ducati 1098, a Ducati 916 and even a Ducati 1299 Panigale S amongst other motorcycles. Now, he has added the exotic 1299 Superleggera to his already envious list of Ducati motorcycles, at a price of Rs 1.12 crores.
