CNG Kits For Scooters Launched In Mumbai — Complete Details
CNG kits for two-wheelers are now available in Mumbai and can be fitted on some of the best-selling scooters directly.
Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) has launched CNG kits for scooters in Mumbai. The move is to reduce pollution and bring down the overall running cost of vehicles.
The CNG kits for two-wheelers comprises of two 1.2kg cylinders, which can help the vehicle run 120 to 130km per kg.
With an approximate running cost of 60 paise per km, the CNG cylinder kit is expected to be substantially cheaper and economical to run, compared to petrol. In the initial phase, scooters will be retrofitted with the CNG cylinders by Lovato.
Currently, two CNG kit manufacturers, Lovato and ITUK have the necessary approval from ARAI and ICAT. Lovato has got the approval for 18 scooter models from various OEMs in India.
Some of the best-selling scooter models in India, including the Honda Activa, Hero Maestro, Hero Duet, TVS Jupiter, TVS Wego, Mahindra Gusto, Suzuki Access, and Yamaha Ray can be retrofitted with CNG kits in their current state.
Also, MGL has launched the MGL Connect Mobile App, which can be downloaded on Android phones. The mobile app will assist customers to find the nearest CNG filling station.
