BMW Motorrad has issued a recall or a service campaign as the company calls it, for R1200GS and GS Adventure. The models manufactured between November 2013 to June 2017 are facing a fork tube issue.
The service recall is regarding an issue with the fixed fork tubes. When the motorcycle passes over an obstacle, the fork tubes might suffer damage. Around 1,50,000 models are likely to be affected by this service bulletin.

The damage to the front forks is occurred by a gap forming between the pipe and the seal plugs. Apart from that, they might also damage the front wheels. But BMW Motorrad is not issuing a recall. Instead, it is calling it as a service campaign.
BMW has skipped the recall because of the legal complications. A service bulletin means, the company will only fix the motorcycles which show a gap created in the fork tubes.

DriveSpark Thinks!
BMW Motorrad has made a smart move by not recalling the R1200GS and the GS Adventure. Instead, it has issued a service campaign, which makes things simpler for the customers.
