BMW Concept Link Electric Scooter Revealed
BMW Concept Link electric scooter revealed. The BMW Concept Link in a zero-emission scooter and the Bavarians say that it will re-invent urban mobility.
BMW have once again unveiled a radical two-wheeler concept at the annual Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este, Italy.
BMW Motorrad, the motorcycle brand of the company, has revealed the BMW Concept Link electric scooter, its vision of zero-emission urban mobility on two wheels.
The design is inspired by the BMW Motorrad Vision Next 100, which unites digital connectivity with the demand of urban mobility on two wheels. Powering the new Concept Link is a compact electric motor driven by large and flat batteries in the underfloor area of the bike.
"The BMW Motorrad Concept Link, with its timeless and reduced style, is more than a concept - it is rather a symbol of a new era," says Edgar Heinrich, Head of Design of BMW Motorrad.
BMW says it's ideally suited for urban mobility due to the shape of the scooter. The low overall height makes to easy to jump in and out off the scooter.
Additionally, the electric motor produces fast acceleration and easy handling along with urban luxuries such as a reverse gear.
There is also other luxuries like the adjustable seats. You can either choose the sporty single seat to a comfortable two-person bench, while the storage below the seat can be accessed via a sliding hatch.
The BMW electric scooter is not just about styling; it's connected -- the Concept Link "knows what's in the rider's calendar and therefore his next destinations." This feature allows the scooter to plan the quickest route as well as select appropriate music for the occasion.
Unlike other concepts from BMW Motorrad, the Concept Link electric scooter does not feature the traditional instrument cluster.
However, the rider can keep a check on primary information such as speed, range and navigation using the windscreen's head-up display while a secondary panel provides access to additional functions.
Buttons on the handlebars are programmable and can set to save your frequently used functions. One of the unique offers by BMW, the Concept Link comes with distinct connected clothing for the rider. A particular motion of the jacket, for instance, opens and closes the bike's sliding cargo door.
There is no confirmation if the BMW electric scooter will make it to production, but looking at the striking design and the futuristic concept, it will be a breather for urban mobility.
