Italian motorcycle manufacturer Benelli has already revealed about its aggressive product strategy for the Indian market.
The next product on the list is the Leoncino Scrambler, and the motorcycle has been spotted testing in Pune.
The spotted Benelli Leoncino Scrambler is finished with a camouflaged livery and the distinctive styling of the motorcycle can still be seen. The Scrambler motorcycle features a 3D lion mascot on the front fender which pays tribute to the original Leoncino.
Apart from that, the Leoncino Scrambler is also equipped with projector headlamp with black housing, slim tail light, scrambler-style seat, fat exhaust and twin petal discs. The new scrambler motorcycle is based on the steel trellis frame with upside down forks at the front and monoshock at the rear.
The Leoncino Scrambler will draw power from a 499.6cc liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine producing 47bhp and 45Nm of torque. The engine is coupled to a 6-speed gearbox. The same engine does its duty on the TRK 502 adventure motorcycle which is also expected to be launched in India.
The Benelli Leoncino Scrambler features classic retro-style design elements and modern technology. The retro-styled motorcycles are gaining popularity in the Indian market and Benelli is trying to capture the segment. The motorcycle will be brought to India via CKD (Completely Knocked down) route which will keep the costs low.
The Benelli Leoncino Scrambler is undergoing its final phase of testing on the Indian roads before its launch in the country. Expect the motorcycle to make its India debut at the 2018 Auto Expo in February. The Benelli Leoncino Scrambler is likely to carry a price tag of around Rs 5 lakh and will be an affordable alternative to the Ducati Scrambler.
