Benelli Reveals New 1,200cc Engine
Italian motorcycle manufacturer Benelli is working on a new 1,200cc engine. The patent images of the engine have been leaked on the internet.
Italian motorcycle manufacturer Benelli is planning a new 1,200cc touring motorcycle. Now the patent images of the engine have been released on the internet.
The new engine bears the name of Benelli and its Chinese parent company QianJiang. The large QianJiang logos are on the sides of the engine, and the cam covers bear the Benelli name.
The engine design is similar to the Benelli's existing 1,130cc engine. The balancer shaft is located in the front of the crank. The engine has a similar layout as the Yamaha's CPE engine and Triumph's triple motor.
The overall shape of the engine is similar to the Benelli engines. But the components such as rank cases, cylinders, cylinder head and transmission are all new.
The engine has a shaft drive transmission design. The key factor for a big touring motorcycle with which the engine will debut. The engine will not be restricted to a single model.
The engine will power a range of motorcycles. The 1,200c engine will be likely used for a big adventure or a tourer motorcycle. A chain drive version of the engine might be developed to be used in sports bikes.
Benelli has already confirmed that they are planning to develop new models up to 1,200cc. The company is also working on a 750cc twin engine and planning to revamp the 600cc engine.
