India's leading two-wheeler manufacturer Bajaj Auto launched its much awaited big capacity motorcycle, the Dominar 400 on December 15, 2016. The motorcycle is priced very aggressively and it took the value for money proposition to another level.
The deliveries of the new sports cruiser motorcycle commenced from January 2017. Managing Director of Bajaj Auto, Rajiv Bajaj has revealed that the company has sold 3,000 units of Dominar 400 in January 2017.
Rajiv Bajaj revealed this information in an interview with MoneyControl. He said, "I can tell you that every single vehicle of the 3,000 we made in January was sold out. Of course at this stage we have a waiting period but that is bound to be the case at this point in the game."
Bajaj added, "We are looking at about 4,000 vehicles this month and we can push production gently but cautiously to about 6,000 next month. However, remember that 6,000 a month is where Royal Enfield was in 2012."
Bajaj Auto will commence the export of the Dominar 400 this month. The motorcycle will be exported to foreign markets such as Russia, Turkey, South Africa and Peru.
Bajaj Auto aims to achieve a sales volume of 10,000 units of Dominar 400 per month by September 2017. The company is confident enough to achieve this target with the help of overseas markets.
The Dominar 400 is powered by a 373.3cc single cylinder, triple spark, liquid cooled engine producing 35bhp of power and 35Nm of peak torque. The motorcycle is also equipped with the slipper clutch and dual-channel ABS.
The non-ABS variant of the Dominar 400 is priced at Rs 1.36 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi) and the ABS variant comes with a price tag of Rs 1.50 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi). The sports cruiser motorcycle is pitted against the likes of Royal Enfield in the Indian market.
