Two-Wheeler Headlights To Be Permanently On From April As New Safety Rules Come Into Play
The Automatic Headlight On feature is compulsory for all two-wheelers in India coming April, in a bid to reduce road accidents.
Coming April, motorcycle headlights should be permanently on from the time the engine is fired up, as per new government rules. Motorcycle manufacturers were asked to make two-wheelers with Automatic Headlight On (AHO) feature.

According to experts in the automotive industry, AHO on two-wheelers has improved visibility a lot, during the day and towards the evening. This feature acts like daytime running lights found in cars, but on motorcycles.

The government had earlier asked all two-wheeler manufacturers to make AHO compulsory so that riders don't have to manually switch on the headlight. The Supreme Court also appointed a committee on road safety who pushed the proposal of AHO, and how it benefits in reducing road accidents.

Such features like the AHO for example has been in effect in the European countries from 2003. A few manufacturers like KTM have already implemented the feature.

Speaking of KTM, the Austrian motorcycle manufacturer recently launched the updated version of the 390 Duke in India, pictured in the image gallery below.
