Dakar 2017: CS Santosh, Aravind KP And Stage 2 Updates
The second stage of the 2017 Dakar Rally has concluded and CS Santosh and Aravind KP finished 41st and 127th respectively.
The real essence of the Dakar 2017 began on the day of the toughest off-road event. The stage two Resistencia - San Miguel De Tucuman was a mammoth 803km stage, out of which 275km was the timed section.
Hero Motorsports Team Rally rider CS Santosh had a very good day behind the handlebar of his 450 Speedbrain rally motorcycle. He finished the second stage in 41st position and made good progress in the overall rankings and is in 39th position overall.
Whereas Santosh's teammate Joaquim Rodrigues suffered few technical glitches and finished the second stage in 22nd position and is in 22nd overall.
Sherco TVS rider Aravind KP suffered the worst on stage two, he crashed at the end of the stage and sustained two fractures on his left hand. He ended the stage in 127th position and lies 125th overall. His teammate Juan Pedrero holds a strong 9th overall.
The stage two victory went to KTM spearhead Toby Price and with the stage victory, the Australian rider also leads the rally ahead of Honda rider Paulo Goncalves.
In the quad category Argentina rider Pablo Copetti crossed the line with the quickest time and he also leads the overall ranking with a considerable lead over his chasing pack.
In the cars category, nine-time WRC champion Sebastien Loeb topped the timesheets in stage two and leads the rally by a narrow margin ahead of Toyota driver Nasser Al-Attiyah.
In the trucks category the second stage victory went to Martin Van Den Brink, Daniel Kozlovsky and Marcel Blankestijn in their Renault truck and the team also holds the overall lead after stage two.
