Yamaha YZF-R1 Wins German Design Award
Yamaha YZF-R1 wins the prestigious German Design Award. This is the fourth award for the flagship motorcycle from Yamaha.
Yamaha Motor has announced that the firm's flagship supersport motorcycle, the YZF-R1 has been selected as the winner of the transportation category of the 'German Design Award' competition.
This feat from the Japanese motorcycle maker marks the first nomination for this award. The motorcycle was selected as a first-time category winner out of 4,000 entries competing for this award.
Apart from that, the German Design Award marks the fourth design award received by the YZF-R1 2015 overseas model.
The other awards received by the Yamaha YZF-R1 are - Good Design Award 2015, iF Design Award 2016, and the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2016.
In the German Design Award, the German Design Council recommends products from around the globe. Only after receiving the recommendation an application can be made for this prestigious award.
The new Yamaha YZF-R1 was developed to allow the riders to have a taste of the technical concepts of the MotoGP YZR-M1 motorcycle. And comes with a potential for a circuit-level top speed.
The design also reflects the image of a YZR-M1 in an innovative "Speed Racer" concept and has built a new strand of R-DNA.
