UM Motorcycles Reopen Bookings; To Start Deliveries By August
American cruiser motorcycle manufacturer UM Motorcycles has re-opened bookings for the Renegade range of motorcycles in India. Deliveries will begin in August 2016. Even though bookings are being accepted, deliveries have not started.
The range consists of the Renegade Commando, priced at Rs. 1.59 lakh and the Renegade Sport S priced at Rs. 1.49 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi). Both motorcycles were first launched at the 2016 Auto Expo and the company is planning to bring another model in the range to India, the Renegade Classic.
UM Motorcycles is working on setting up dealerships across the country and have entered India through a strategic partnership with Lohia Auto. Production will take place in Lohia Auto's factory and UM Motorcycles has already invested Rs. 250 crore.
Powering the Renegade range of motorcycles in India is a 279cc, single-cylinder water-cooled engine that produces 25bhp and 21.8Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
