Suzuki Hayabusa Assembled In India Will Witness Price Drop
We had earlier reported that Suzuki Motorcycles India was planning on assembling a couple of its superbikes in India. The popular Hayabusa superbike was expected to be the very first within their portfolio. Now the Japanese-based manufacturer is poised to begin local assembly of Hayabusa in India.
Importantly, the locally assembled Hayabusa will witness a significant price drop. Suzuki could lower the price of their superbike by Rs. 2 lakhs, owing to the CKD (Completely Knocked Down) status. The Hayabusa will be the first superbike by Suzuki to be assembled in India.
Currently, Suzuki Motorcycles India offers the Hayabusa at a price of Rs. 15.95 lakh ex-showroom (India). The 2016 Hayabusa will be locally assembled at Suzuki's facility in Manesar with a dedicated assembly line for the superbike.
Powering the 2016 Hayabusa will be a 1,340cc inline four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. The engine will produce 197bhp, along with 155Nm of peak torque and will be mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Suzuki claims that their superbike returns a decent fuel economy of 11 km/l.
The 2016 Suzuki Hayabusa is available in three colour options for the Indian market, Candy Daring Red/ Metallic Mystic Silver, Pearl Bracing White/ Metallic Mystic Silver, and Metallic Thunder Gray/ Glass Sparkle Black.
Depending on the success Suzuki achieves with the locally assembled Hayabusa, other superbikes could also witness a similar route. The customer will be at the maximum benefit as these superbikes will also witness a hefty price drop, owing to the CKD route chosen.
