Stefan Bradl Confirms MotoGP Departure & WSBK Debut
Stefan Bradl has experienced a disastrous 2016 with Aprilia in MotoGP. The German rider is not at all competitive and has not achieved the desired results for his team. Now Stefan Bradl confirms that his MotoGP journey has come to an end and would not be competing in 2017.
Bradl previously rode for LCR Honda where he secured his sole MotoGP podium finish. He then took a drastic step by riding for Forward Racing. During the mid-season itself, he changed rides and began riding for Gresini Aprilia team.
Avintia Ducati was trying to get Stefan Bradl onboard for the 2017 Championship. Unfortunately, the position being offered was not what Bradl was expecting, which resulted in the end of negotiations.
Stefan Bradl will be entering the 2017 WSBK Championship. The German rider will be joining the Honda Racing team. It is unclear which Honda team will he join in WSBK. Currently, Nicky Hayden races in the WSBK Championship for a satellite Honda team.
Aprilia Racing Team has confirmed Sam Lowes and Aleix Espargaro for 2017 MotoGP season. Sam Lowes will be stepping up from Moto2 Championship. Aleix Espargaro, on the other hand, will be leaving Suzuki factory outfit for the Italian-based manufacturer.
