Honda Inaugurates Second Assembly Line At Its Scooter Only Plant
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India now confirms inauguration of a second assembly line. The Vithalapur, Gujarat facility is a scooter only plant and is now functioning at 100 percent capacity. Production from 0.6 million units is expected to increase to 1.2 million units per year.
The second assembly line inaugurated will be exclusive to scooter production. Honda will use the new assembly line for its popular product, the Activa. Currently, the Honda Activa is India's top-selling two-wheeler in the country.
Overall, Honda has four facilities for manufacturing scooters and motorcycles in India. All together, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India now has an annual production capacity of 5.8 million units.
The Haryana plant produces 1.6 million units, Rajasthan facility produces 1.2 million units, Karnataka plant produces 1.8 million units, and the Gujarat facility produces 1.2 million units. By doing so, Honda plans to reduce waiting period in the country of their fast selling products.
Japanese-based two-wheeler manufacturer aims at achieving 3.3 million sales within the financial year. To achieve their goal, they need to ramp up production and deliver their products to customers as soon as possible.
