Video: 2017 CBR1000RR Fireblade Tamed By Nicky Hayden
Honda unveiled the 2017 CBR1000RR Fireblade yesterday at the Intermot Motorcycle Show in Cologne, Germany. Former MotoGP World Champion and current WorldSBK rider Nicky Hayden unveiled this 2017 road-going version.
Hayden along with Honda Endurance Racing Team rider Freddy Foray uncovered two models of the Fireblade - SP and SP2.
Former MotoGP Champion discussed the 25-year history of the Fireblade, "The development of the 2017 Fireblade has remained true to the ground-breaking spirit of the original 1992 machine, with a relentless focus on power to weight ratio.
"A 15kg weight reduction and 8kW top end power boost combine to give a 14% improvement in power to weight, making the 2017 Fireblade the sharpest in its 25-year history.
"A new electronics package includes semi-active Öhlins Electronic Control suspension, Honda Selectable Torque Control, Selectable Engine Brake and Power settings, Quickshifter and Downshift Assist."
Three videos were teased by the Japanese Manufacturer before the unveiling. All the videos were titled as ‘Total Control.'
The launch video was filmed at Valencia's Circuito Ricardo Tormo in September. In the footage, Hayden uses his experience and riding skills to demonstrate what the new Fireblade is capable of and how Honda has made the motorcycle so advanced to compete with the likes of Yamaha R1 and other superbikes.
For next year, Hayden will be joined by a former Grand Prix World Champion, Stefan Bradl. So watch out guys, Honda WorldSBK Team will be back with a bang. Keep calm and wait for 2017 WorldSBK Championship.
