Zarco & Folger To Ride In MotoGP 2017 Season With Monster Tech3 Yamaha
Monster Tech3 Yamaha has confirmed their all-new rider line-up for 2017 MotoGP Championship. Current Moto2 Champion Johann Zarco will step up to MotoGP. The French rider will be partnered by Moto2 Championship rival Jonas Folger.
Satellite Yamaha team will have an all-rookie rider line-up with Johann Zarco and Jonas Folger. Monster Tech3 Yamaha officials believe that the new and younger riders will help in achieving their team goals better. Both riders will receive support from factory Yamaha team as well for faster development.
Both Zarco and Folger have received contracts only for 2017 MotoGP Championship. Monster Tech3 Yamaha has provided both riders with an option for the following season. Based on their performance in the 2017 season, team bosses could renew or replace the riders for 2018 season.
Previous Monster Tech3 Yamaha riders have moved on to greener pastures. Both Bradley Smith and Pol Espargaro have secured factory rides with KTM MotoGP Racing Team. Smith and Espargaro have had an unsuccessful experience with Monster Tech3 Yamaha.
Four Moto2 riders will be stepping up to the MotoGP challenge. Alex Rins will be joining Team Ecstar Suzuki, while Sam Lowes has secured a factory ride with Gresini Aprilia Racing Team. Johann Zarco and Jonas Folger will ride for Monster Tech3 Yamaha, which should make the 2017 MotoGP Championship very interesting.
