Michelin Heads To Sachsenring, Germany For GoPro Motorrad Grand Prix
Michelin is heading to Sachsenring in Germany for the GoPro Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland, which marks the halfway point of MotoGP.
The Sachsenring circuit features fast, left hand corners, slow right turns and grinding asphalt, which makes it one of the most technical tracks on the calendar, although the track is only 3.6km in length. The Sachsenring circuit is also the shortest track in the season.
With the track condition in mind, Michelin will be supplying front asymmetric MICHELIN Power Slick tyres for the first time this season. The tyre is designed specifically for the track conditions and the tyre features harder rubber on the left shoulder of the front tyre, keeping in mind the 10 left hand corners.
To match the front tyre, Michelin will also supply the teams with similar rear tyres, that will have hard rubber on the left shoulder.
The Sachsenring circuit was once a circuit that held its races on closed public roads like Assen and the Isle Of Man. Since 1996, races take place in a purpose built track near Hohenstein-Ernstthal, where It has staged a motorcycle Grand Prix every year since 1998.
