Xavi Fores To Replace Loris Baz At Avintia Ducati For Misano GP
Loris Baz was involved in an accident with Pol Espargaro at the Silverstone GP. Both riders were extremely lucky to survive this accident without sustaining major injuries. Avintia Ducati has now confirmed that Xavi Fores will replace Loris Baz at the Misano GP.
Initially, trackside doctors suggested only a sprained ankle. Further tests conducted on Loris Baz suggest that he has sustained a fracture to his lower tibia and astragalus on right foot. The Frenchman has other injuries, along with damaged tendons and bruises.
Baz had previously sustained fractures to his right leg at the Italian GP. He missed MotoGP action for two rounds which halted his Championship gain. Unfortunately, Loris Baz's doctors have ruled out surgery and the fractures will have to be healed only by rest.
Xavi Fores will replace Loris Baz at Avintia Ducati for Misano GP. The Spanish rider currently is part of World Superbike Championship with Barni Ducati team. This will be the very first time Xavi Fores gets to ride a MotoGP bike.
Avintia Ducati was planning to utilise Michelle Pirro's expertise to replace Loris Baz. Pirro, however, has been awarded a wildcard entry for Misano GP by Factory Ducati team. Loris Baz will be present at Misano GP to help Xavi Fores in setting up the Avintia Ducati.
