Jorge Lorenzo Ends Yamaha Career With 2016 Valencia GP Victory
Jorge Lorenzo ends his nine-year long run with Yamaha at the 2016 Valencia GP with an emphatic victory.
Jorge Lorenzo dominated the final round of 2016 MotoGP Championship, which was contested at Valencia, Spain. The Spanish rider excelled over the weekend and wanted to end his Yamaha career on a high note. He did so with an emphatic win in typical Jorge Lorenzo fashion.
Surprisingly, Lorenzo's final race with Movistar Yamaha marked his 250th GP start. Jorge Lorenzo's win at 2016 Valencia GP also provided Yamaha with the Constructors title. This was the ideal end to his run with Yamaha that introduced him into MotoGP Championship.
Lorenzo has spent nine successful years with Yamaha factory team. He will be joining Ducati factory outfit for the 2017 MotoGP Championship. Ducati has decided to pair Lorenzo with Andrea Dovizioso, who has spent a lot of time developing their race machine.
The 2016 Valencia GP witnessed Marc Marquez finish second, followed by Andrea Iannone in third. It was an emotional day for several riders as the season comes to an end. Several riders will be moving to new teams and 2017 season witnesses a major shuffle amongst riders.
In the end, Jorge Lorenzo secured third place in the 2016 MotoGP Championship. Marc Marquez won the Championship, while Valentino Rossi finished in second. Lorenzo will sample his Ducati Desmosedici GP17 on November 15, at the Valencia circuit.
