Brad Binder & Miguel Oliveira To Ride For KTM In Moto2 2017 Championship
KTM Racing Team currently participates only in the Moto3 Championship. For 2017, however, the Austrian-based manufacturer plans on entering all three classes. It is now confirmed that Brad Binder and Miguel Oliveira will be the official riders for their Moto2 project.
Aki Ajo has also been nominated as the team leader for KTM Moto2 Factory Team. The title sponsor for KTM Moto2 project will be Red Bull. All details and information have been announced by Pit Beirer, KTM Motorsport Director.
Previously, it was believed that KTM would partner with WP Motorsport in Moto2 as a joint venture. Both KTM and WP belong to Cross Industries AG. It is now confirmed that WP Motorsports division is a fully integrated part of KTM.
Currently, Aki Ajo organises the Kalex-WP Team in Moto2 2016 Championship. Johann Zarco has won the 2015 Moto2 Championship riding for Kalex-WP Team. The Frenchman currently leads the Moto2 Championship by a tiny margin.
Brad Binder, on the other hand, has decimated Moto3 Championship. The South-African rider leads rivals by 106 points. Binder rides for Red Bull KTM Ajo Team in Moto3 and it is rumoured that his contract has a clause to move into MotoGP with KTM during 2019.
