Kawasaki Reveals Z1000 R Edition For 2017

The new Z1000 R Edition gets a Metallic Spark Black and Metallic Graphite Grey skin. There is also a ‘special graphic package.'

Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Kawasaki have revealed an 'R Edition' of company's naked Z1000. The model will hit the global market in 2017.

The Z1000 R Edition is equipped with a set of Brembo 310mm Brembo floating front discs which are gripped to a pair of Brembo M50 monobloc calipers. The discs also have lateral grooves for improved heat dissipation.

The engine has been tuned to meet the Euro4 regulations and the company also claims that they have managed to do it without any drop-off in power or torque figure over the existing engine.

The R Edition also gets a fully-adjustable Ohlins S46DR1S with remote preload adjuster. The hardware at the front remains unchanged but Kawasaki has introduced revised settings to ensure it matches the rear Ohlins.

The ECU settings are also revised to deliver a smoother power curve. The instrument cluster will also sport a digital gear position indicator and an adjustable shift-light that illuminates the rev counter display as the revs climb up.

The R Edition will line up alongside the standard Z1000 for 2017. The 2017 Z1000 will come in two colours, Metallic Spark Black and Golden Blazed Green as well as Candy Burnt Orange and Flat Ebony.
