Honda 2Wheelers Sales Increased By 9% In October 2016
In this festive season, Activa maintained the top spot as the best-selling scooter with peak retails of 7 lakh plus units.

that
the
company
had
a
growth
of
9
percent
in
total
sales
for
the
month
of
October
2016.
The
HMSI
managed
to
sell
4,92,367
units
t
against
4,31,865
units
in
the
year-ago
period.
The sales of the Automatic scooter continue to increase and for the fourth month in a row, the sales are above 3 lakh mark. Exports of two-wheelers also increased and it continues to peak over 20,000 mark for the 5th month in the current fiscal.
For the first time, Honda has crossed 10 lakh retail sales in 2016 festive season. Keita Muramatsu, President & CEO, HMSI said, "To meet the overwhelming demand this festive season, we started our preparations almost 6 months back. We have been consistently growing month on month this year.
"As a trend, automatic scooters are clearly driving the two-wheeler industry growth and with new scooter only 4th plant in Gujarat achieving peak production capacity in September, Honda strategically met festive demand with seamless dispatches over two months.
"This planning resulted in Honda's record performance and we acquired more than 10 lakh happy customers in the 2 festive months. What is more encouraging is that we added 2.6 lakh customers only on Dhanteras day!"
In this festive season, Activa maintained the top spot as the best-selling scooter with peak retails of 7 lakh plus units. The scooter was followed by 125cc motorcycle CB Shine with 2 lakh plus retails.
Yadvinder Singh Guleria, Senior Vice President - Sales & Marketing, HMSI said, "With advanced preparations, aggressive marketing, new additional network and ensuring availability of products right up to the last mile network, Honda's festive retails grew a phenomenal 25% to stand at 12.5 lakh units in the festival. Moreover, Honda also closed its April to October 2016 YTD despatch with 21% growth which is nearly double that of the 12% industry growth."
Honda also managed to achieve its fastest ever 30 lakh sales milestone in 7 months in India by selling 33,01,297 units and for the first time, the company's automatic scooter sales crossed the 20 lakh mark.
HMSI said that "Honda 2Wheelers is now the highest market share gainer and leader in two-wheeler industry volume growth (growing at 21 percent which is nearly double the 11 percent industry growth) this fiscal."
