Honda Two-Wheelers Sell 3.25 Lakh Units In November 2016
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India remains unaffected in terms of sales even with demonetization announcement. The Japanese-based manufacturer has instead witnessed minor growth in overall sales.
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India witnessed the effect of demonetization. Total sales by the Japanese-based manufacturer stood at 3,25,448 units during November 2016. While in November 2015, Honda witnessed total sales of 3,26,466 two-wheelers.
Export by Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India increased significantly by 81 percent. In November 2015, Honda exported 14,391 units, while in November 2016, the manufacturer exported 26,053 units. Honda also commenced export of its Dio and Navi scooter to Sri Lanka.
From April to November 2016, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India registered sales of 36,27,991 units. During April to November 2015, the two-wheeler manufacturer managed to sell 30,47,431 units. These figures include domestic sales and export from India.
Overall the two-wheeler industry in India witnessed a dip of five percent overall sales in November 2016. Main reason for the decline in sales was the Indian Government's decision to demonetize higher denomination notes. Sales are expected to resume in the following months.
