Honda CX-02 Concept To Enter Production As All-New CB500X In 2018
Honda has applied to patent its CX-02 concept model, which means it could be entering production. CX-02 Concept is most likely to be used as a platform for Honda's all-new CB500X model. All-new CB500X will be a better adventure-touring motorcycle than the current-gen.
The CX-02 Concept made its debut at 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi. Honda India R&D created the CX-02 Concept with inputs from Honda Japan operation. The patent has been filed by Honda Japan, which means that the manufacturer is serious in putting its concept into production.
CB500X recently received a design and performance update by Honda for 2016. So do not expect an all-new CB500X anytime soon. However, expect 2018 CB500X motorcycle to look extremely similar to the CX-02 Concept.
No engine specifications have been revealed by Honda for its CX-02 Concept. There is a high possibility that Honda could continue using the CB500X power unit. Minor tweaks could be made to this engine for improving throttle response and acceleration.
Honda could introduce an all-new Adventure/Touring motorcycle for India. They have shown confidence, as Africa Twin is soon to be launched in the country. An entry level product like the CX-02 could take on the likes of Kawasaki Versys 650, KTM's upcoming adventure bike and DSK-Benelli's TRK 502 model.
