Hero Could Discontinue Maestro Scooter In India Soon
Hero MotoCorp was previously in partnership with Honda Two-Wheelers. The Indian and Japanese manufacturers shared technology as well as two-wheeler platforms. Few products were developed by Honda and Hero MotoCorp had to pay the former a kind of Royalty.
Hero Maestro Could Be Discontinued In India
Now, Hero MotoCorp could look at discontinuing the Maestro scooter. The Hero Maestro is one of the very few products that was developed by Hero-Honda. There are a few products within Hero MotoCorp that use Honda technology and those models will also be replaced soon.
Recently, Hero MotoCorp launched the Maestro Edge scooter, which is performing well on the sales front. The Maestro Edge is designed and developed completely by Hero MotoCorp. Currently, Hero MotoCorp offers the Maestro and Maestro Edge scooter.
By discontinuing the Maestro scooter, Hero MotoCorp will not have to pay Honda Royalty for this model. The money saved by Hero MotoCorp will be used by their R&D. The Maestro Edge is ready to replace the Maestro scooter in India as well as in the international markets.
Currently, Hero MotoCorp offers the Pleasure, Maestro, Duet, and the Maestro Edge scooters in India. Expect the Maestro to be phased out soon by Hero MotoCorp. The Maestro currently utilises Honda's 109cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine.
