Government To Implement BS-VI Norms For 2 & 3 Wheelers Soon
The government is to soon issue a notification to implement Bharat Stage (BS) VI norms for two and three-wheelers by 2020, according to a top government official. Initially, the government issued BS-VI notifications only for passenger and commercial vehicles.
According to industry sales figures, almost 80 percent of the vehicles sold in India are two-wheelers. Almost 2 crore vehicles are sold in India every year, and almost 1.6 crore vehicles are two-wheelers and 5.3 lakh vehicles are three-wheelers.
The Petroleum Ministry has assured that there will be sufficient BS-VI fuel available in the country by 2020, which is the biggest concern at the moment. Also, four Ministries, highways, heavy industries, environment, and the petroleum Ministry are working together to address the pollution issue.
