SPY SHOT: The New Ducati Supersport S Revealed!
Since the 2014 World Ducati Week, the Italian manufacturer has a habit of giving some surprise treat for its fans. Unfortunately for Ducati, someone always manages to unmask the surprise for the rest of us. And yes, it has happened again.
This year, it's Ducati's latest project bike, codenamed Project 1312, which we believe is likely to be called the Supersport S. Product Manager, Paolo Quattrino, later confirmed the Supersport is in line for production and will hit the market in 2017.
The bike is brand new apart from the trellis frame borrowed from the XDiavel. The Supersport will be a motorcycle designed for customers who desire road focus performance and not trackdays. The bike will feature a much comfortable riding position.
The Supersport will come in 2 models, the Supersport and the Supersport S. The Supersport S is expected to feature Öhlins suspension in the front and rear, and a detachable rear seat cowl.
Ducati has opted to go for the 939cc engine from the Hypermotard, but 80 percent of the engine components featured are new. The dashboard will feature a Ducati multimedia system borrowed from the Multistrada.
For improved urban use, the Supersport will feature three rider modes linked to an 8-level traction control system and a fully adjustable suspension.
Ducati is expected to unveil the Supersport fully at the Milan Motor Show and the motorcycle will hit the market by 2017 summer.
