DSK Motowheels To Launch 135cc Mini Bike Next Year
DSK Benelli is working on formalities, including trials before it can be commercially available for the Indian market
DSK Motowheels known for their association with Italian premium superbike manufacturer Benelli premium motorcycles in India will launch a 135cc mini bike by March 2017 as per a senior company official.
Chairman of DSK Benelli Shirish Kulkarni said the 135cc bike will be priced in the range of Rs 1.3 to Rs 1.5 lakh. He added that they are busy completing formalities, which include trials before it can be commercially launched in March 2017.
DSK Motowheels has collaborated with the Italian superbike manufacturer Benelli and has a Rs 350 crore manufacturing plant at Talegaon near Pune which has the capacity to churn out 50,000 units a month.
DSK Motowheels started selling Benelli bikes earlier this year and is aiming to sell 3,000 motorcycles this year.
On the Benelli range of bikes, the company sells TNT 25, TNT 300, TNT 600i, TNT 600 GT, TNT 899 and TNT R. These bikes are priced in the range of Rs 1.84 lakh to Rs 12.86 lakh.
Currently, the company has 21 outlets and hopes to increase it to 30 dealerships by March 2017.
The company also plans to invest additional Rs 100 crore in the coming five years for expansion of the manufacturing plant. They are looking to capture 60 percent market share in the superbike category.
DSK Motowheels and DSK Benelli are part of DSK Group, which has the presence in business verticals such as construction, auto, IT, education, pharma, hospitality, tours & travels, and digital products, among others.
The company also aims to sell 2,500 Hyosung bikes during this year. It currently sells five Hyosung superbikes, ranging from 25cc and 700c, which are priced between Rs 2.84 lakh and Rs 5.99 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi).
