No Helmet, No Petrol - Rule Implemented In Dehradun
Road safety is a major concern and especially two-wheeler safety. In a bid to encourage two-wheeler riders to wear a helmet, many parts of India are implementing a 'No Helmet, No Petrol' rule. The latest place to implement such a rule is Dehradun.
The Uttarakhand Transport Department wrote to 13 district magistrates and officials to ensure that the 'No Helmet, No Petrol' rule is implemented at all petrol stations.
Talking to Times Of India, the Additional Transport Commissioner, Sunita Singh said, "We wanted proper implementation of the mandatory helmet orders so we have written to the concerned officials."
She also said that the government is also encouraging several other initiatives to promote two-wheeler safety, including motorcycle shops to sell helmets.
