Dakar 2016: CS Santosh & Stage 2 Updates
Stage 2 of the Dakar Rally has concluded with CS Santosh, the only Indian rider in the race to finish the stage in the 86th position. CS Santosh started the race in the 127th place and managed to move up, but struggled with mechanical and reliability issues with his Suzuki. In the overall standings, CS Santosh is in the 95th position.
The leader in the motorcycle category is Toby Price on the KTM, followed by Ruben Faria on the Husqvarna, and Stefan Svitko on a KTM.
Bad weather played a major role during the second stage as well. The 450km special section of stage 2 was shortened by almost 97km due to heavy rain.
Spanish rider Joan Barreda, who was the lead rider of the second stage had a difficult race as well since he had some trouble in the mud. He managed to finish stage 2 in the seventh place and stand in the sixth place overall.
Indian rider CS Santosh made a good move to the 78th position, but slipped down to 95th place overall, after completing stage 2 in the 95th position. The Suzuki RMZ motorcycle had issues, which had to be fixed along the way, and the motorcycle had problems with top speed as well.
