Casey Stoner Will Not Replace Danilo Petrucci At Pramac Ducati
Danilo Petrucci took part in the free practice at the recently concluded Qatar GP. Unfortunately, Pramac Ducati did not find him fit to race and realised that their rider would have to undergo hand surgery for the second time. Rumours were flying across the paddock that Casey Stoner could step in to fill Petrucci's shoes.
Surprisingly, Casey Stoner has come out and confirmed that he will not ride in place of Petrucci. Pramac Ducati has now confirmed that Ducati test rider Michele Pirro will ride alongside Scott Redding. Pirro will surely take part in Argentinian GP and subsequent races till Petrucci is perfectly fit.
Petrucci had a fall during the pre-season testing at Phillip Island in Australia. He sustained multiple fractures to his right hand and had to undergo surgery. During the free practice session at Qatar GP, Petrucci underwent an X-ray only to realise that riding had reopened a few fractures.
Casey Stoner took part in a private Qatar test for Ducati with the 2016 bike. The Australian completed 65 laps in mixed conditions, owing to a surprise rain shower. Stoners role with Ducati continues to be testing out parts for Iannone and Dovizioso for 2016 Championship.
