With Four Races To Go, Binder Seals The Moto3 Title
KTM Red Bull rider, Brad Binder seals the Moto3 title with an incredible 2nd place finish at the Aragon GP. He became the first South African rider to win a lightweight class title. Spaniard Jorge Navarro won the race but Binder got the second place he needed.
Binder fought hard all race with fellow competitors, Bastianini, Navarro and Fabio Di Giannantonio. As the race entered its final stage, Binder was fourth whilst Bastianini took the lead. If the position stood the same, he would not be crowned as champion.
Binder was so brave and on the final lap Binder stormed pass both Gresini riders and claimed second. The move was enough for him to become World Champion. South Africa now have three Grand Prix motorcycle World champions; Jon Ekerold, Kork Ballington and Brad Binder.
After winning the title, Binder said, " It doesn't feel real yet. The race was tough, it came down to the final lap. I knew where I had to be and I gave it a try, but I was so terrible in the final corner. Today we lost the battle, but we won the war, so I'm really happy."
