BMW Motorrad Aims To Boost Worldwide Sales By 2020
The German firm BMW Motorrad aims to increase its worldwide sales by 2020. The premium motorcycle brand wants to sell 2 lakh units by 2020.
The German motorcycle manufacturer is on course for the growth as stated by Member of the Board at BMW AG, Peter Schwarzenbauer.
Schwarzenbauer said, "We will continue to grow sustainably and profitably and want to increase motorcycle sales to 200,000 units worldwide by 2020."
The American market is one of the key aspects for BMW Motorrad in achieving this goal. In the coming three years, BMW aims to double its market share in North and South American markets.
As per the plan, BMW Motorrad will be expanding its dealer network across the globe. The dealership count in the US will be increased from 150 to 200 dealerships by 2020.
President of BMW Motorrad, Stephan Schaller said, "After Germany, the USA will remain the second most important market for BMW in the coming years, too. This is where we see great potential. In the US alone we want to double our market share to ten percent in the next three years."
With 1,16,044 units sold, BMW Motorrad recorded the highest sales figure for a third quarter as of September 2016. The first motorcycle aimed at the US market will be showcased in Los Angeles.
In the future BMW Motorrad also plans to enter new displacement segments to reach more customers in the worldwide market. Mainly from 125cc to 500cc.
Schaller further said, "The motorcycle market in the 125 to 500 cc displacement range offers an excellent basis for our growth plans. With the recent launch of the BMW G 310 R we have taken a first important step in this direction."
