Alex Lowes Replaces Injured Bradley Smith At Tech3 Yamaha MotoGP
Bradley Smith sustained injuries to his right knee in an accident. The British rider was involved in an accident with a slow rider. Smith was taking part in a practice session for 2016 Oschersleben World Endurance finale.
Smith was riding the YZF-R1 of YART team, it was his first ride onboard the machine since last year. In 2015, Bradley Smith rode the all-new YZF-R1 at the Suzuki Endurance Race to a victory. Unfortunately, his accident and injury mean that he will be out of competition.
Monster Tech3 Yamaha has announced Alex Lowes as Bradley Smith's replacement. Alex Lowes will ride the YZR-M1 at the Silverstone and Misano GP's. This would also be Alex Lowes debut at MotoGP, as he currently competes in 2016 World Superbike Championship.
Luckily, Alex Lowes had tested the YZR-M1 post-2016 Brno GP. He was offered a test as he was part of the winning team at Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance challenge. Alex Lowes will ride alongside Pol Espargaro in Monster Tech3 Yamaha outfit.
