Yamaha Organizes ‘DUthon’ As Contribution To ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan’
Yamaha Motor India organised its ‘DUthon' on the 27th of February, 2015. The Japanese manufacturer of two-wheelers has taken part in the initiative with Delhi University as part of their ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan'.
They organised a marathon, where they wanted to spread the message of clean India. 2,200 individuals took part in the Run for Clean India at Delhi Universities North campus. The event turned out to be a grand affair for the participants of the marathon.
Roy Kurian-VP, Sales and Marketing, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd., commented "As a responsible corporate citizen we were really excited at the concept of contributing to the Clean India initiative through this run."
He further added, "Yamaha has always been a ‘Youth' oriented brand and shouldering this social cause with the highly enthusiastic youngsters of the premier university of the country seemed to be a satisfying initiative for the brand. It is high time that we realize the importance of cleanliness around us and make our country a beautiful place."
The winner of the marathon was awarded a FZ-S Version 2.0 by Yamaha. Participants had to run for seven kilometres around the North Campus. At the end, Ashish Gulia secured first place, he represented Ramlal Anand College.
Swaach Bharat Abhiya is an initiative that has been implemented by Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. It is an attempt at having improved infrastructure, roads, clean street and towns. One of their goal is to provide sanitation to everyone in India.
