Yamaha India Could Introduce Super Sport Motorcycle By 2016
Yamaha India recently introduced their YZF-R3 motorcycle, which has been well accepted by several. The Japanese manufacturer began its performance bike journey in the country a long time ago.
Japanese compatriot Honda recently introduced its CBR650F motorcycle in India. It is the first time they had introduced a super sport motorcycle, which has received a few local components.
Now Yamaha too is planning to enter this segment and does not want to lose out on this opportunity. Currently several international manufacturers are present in the country with a wide range of products.
It is currently not announced as to which model will be introduced in India by Yamaha. They could offer any of their existing products via CBU route initially and later commence CKD options.
Yamaha has not provided a timeline as well and we expect their super sport motorcycles to be introduced by 2016-2017 in India. The Japanese manufacturer would like to exploit the INR 6,00,000 to INR 7,00,000 motorcycle segment.
Currently Yamaha offers four motorcycles in India via the CBU route. They offer FZ1, VMAX, YZF-R1 and YZF-R1M to motorcycle enthusiasts in the country, however, inclusion of a 600cc could benefit them tremendously.
