Will Yamaha Launch The YZF-R25 Or YZF-R3 In India?
Yamaha has launched two interesting new products in India. First was the Saluto motorcycle and second was Fascino scooter. They also revamped their Ray-Z and Alpha scooter range in India.
These products were not expected, however, are good additions to improve sales for Yamaha India. A quarter-litre motorcycle has been highly anticipated from the Japanese manufacturer.
Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer has already introduced its YZF-R25 in Indonesia and the YZF-R3 in more developed countries across the globe.
Both bikes have chassis and bodywork in common, only the engine and equipment on both sportbikes are different. They are also available in the same three colour options of Diablo Red, Racing Blue and Predator Black.
Here are the specifications of Yamaha YZF-R3:
- Engine: 320cc inline two DOHC, liquid cooled
- Horsepower: 41.40
- Torque: 29.6 Nm
- Gearbox: 6-speed
Here are the specifications of Yamaha YZF-R25:
- Engine: 250cc inline two DOHC, liquid cooled
- Horsepower: 35.52
- Torque: 22.6 Nm
- Gearbox: 6-speed
For India, it makes more sense to offer the YZF-R3 as most manufacturers are moving away from quarter-litre segment. Yamaha also provide ABS with their R3, which is not available on R25 and it will be a welcome addition in India.
In terms of pricing, it will be lower to that of Kawasaki's Ninja 300, owing to local production of YZF-R3. Yamaha could price it between INR 2,50,000 to INR 3,00,000 ex-showroom and it will compete with Ninja 300 and KTM RC390.
