Second Sepang MotoGP Test Comes To An End With Mixed Results
MotoGP riders and teams headed down to Sepang International circuit for a second time for pre-season testing. The testing was held from 23rd to 25th of February, 2015. All riders and teams were present at the test with their latest updates.
Day one saw ‘The Doctor' Valentino Rossi lead the timing sheet. He was closely followed by Dani Pedrosa on his Repsol Honda machinery, his team mate and double MotoGP champion, Marc Marquez was down in sixth position. Movistar Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo could only fifth fastest time.
The surprise on day one was pace showcased by Aleix Espargaro on his Suzuki. Pol Espargaro posted the third fastest lap time on day one. Rookie Maverick Vinales broke into the top ten with ninth fastest lap of the day.
Day two had order restored with reigning MotoGP champion Marc Marquez setting the fastest time. Compatriot and team mate recorded the fifth fastest time. Movistar Yamaha duo of Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi could only manage second and sixth fastest times on day two.
The surprise during second day was Factory Ducati team. Their riders Andrea Iannone and Andrea Dovizioso achieved third and fourth fastest times. Suzuki's Aleix Espargaro could only manage ninth fastest and team mate Vinales was 12th fastest.
Day three witnessed Marc Marquez and Jorge Lorenzo secure first and second fastest times early in the session. Dani Pedrosa could only attain seventh fastest time. Valentino Rossi on the other hand could manage going fifth fastest on the last day.
Surprise on day three was Cal Crutchlow on his CWM LCR Honda who achieved the third fastest time. Andrea Iannone on board his factory Ducati was fourth fastest on the last day. Aleix and Maverick on their Suzuki went ninth and 14th fastest on the final day of testing.
The last and final pre-season testing prior to the first race under floodlights will be on 14th to 16th of March, 2015 in Losail. MotoGP action commences on 28th of March with qualifying and race day on 29th March, 2015. We are eager to see who wins the season opener in Qatar.
