Mahindra Peugeot Looking At Options To Launch Scooter In India
Indian automotive manufacturer Mahindra had earlier announced that they had acquired 51 percent stakes in Peugeot two-wheeler. Previously they dismissed all hopes of launching French scooters in India.
Now it seems like the Indo-French duo are planning to bring a few products to India as well. It is most likely that Mahindra-Peugeot will showcase these scooter at 2016 Auto Expo.
They will showcase three scooters that could be launched in India by next year. Mahindra Peugeot will reveal its Satelis 125, Django and Speedfight 3 scooters.
All three scooters will be powered by reasonably sized engines. Mahindra and Peugeot are likely to provide 125cc single cylinder engines. They could provide engines that exist in the French's arsenal or could jointly develop a new line of engine as well.
Neither Mahindra nor Peugeot have confirmed this news and is most likely to make an announcement soon. It will be great to have more competition in the vast scooter segment on offer in India.
We would also be great if Peugeot could convince Mahindra to introduce bigger scooter that has not been offered in India. The French manufacturer could be the first to offer big scooters in India, which could work in their favour.
