Honda India Contemplates Launch Of PCX 150cc Scooter
The 2014 Auto Expo was a definite visual treat for every passionate two-wheeler enthusiast. There was a wide range of concepts and soon to be launched models on display. Yamaha, TVS, Suzuki, Mahindra, Bajaj, Honda and several others enticed the audience.
Honda Motorcycles and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. revealed several models at the 2014 Expo. Out of the present models, they also showcased their CBR650F, CBR500R, Activa 125, PCX150 and a concept motorcycle. They have already launched their Activa 125 for India and the next product is in the pipeline.
The Japanese manufacturer has now brought to India its PCX150 scooter for R&D purposes. It seems like Honda are keen to introduce a larger capacity motorcycle with more modern styling. Currently there are no 150cc scooters on offer in India.
The PCX150 is powered by a single cylinder 153cc petrol engine. It will sport SOHC, liquid cooling and Honda's PGM-FI system. Japanese engineers will provide a V-Matic automatic transmission for this scooter. The engine will be capable of producing 13.4 bhp, along with 14 Nm of peak torque output.
The scooter looks bulky, however, it will be light weight and easy to manoeuvre even by ladies. Most prominent will be its front fascia, which has a wide headlamp, along with a wind deflector. It will also sport alloy wheels, disc brakes, telescopic suspension and many more goodies.
Hero MotoCorp will also be launching its 150cc scooter for Indian market called ‘ZIR 150'. Honda will aim at pricing their PCX150 scooter attractively against its former partners. We expect these scooters to be priced roughly at INR 75,000 to INR 80,000 ex-showroom.
