DSK Benelli To Offer Two Models With Optional ABS In 2016
DSK Benelli officials during September 2015 confirmed that they are working on an ABS (Antilock Braking System) for their motorcycles. Now they confirm that the very first models to receive the optional ABS will be Benelli's TNT 600i and the TNT 600 GT.
The ABS unit is being developed internally by Benelli engineers in Italy. Benelli is in the final phase of testing the safety equipment. Initially, only the TNT 600i and TNT 600GT motorcycles will feature optional ABS from Benelli.
The Benelli TNT 899 and TNT 1130 R motorcycles receive braking system from Brembo. Both these motorcycles will have to get an all-new ABS unit, which will have to be developed by Brembo themselves. All other models receive Benelli's very own braking system, which can accommodate their in-house ABS unit.
The Benelli TNT 600i is priced at Rs. 5.29 lakh and the TNT 600 GT costs Rs. 5.78 lakh ex-showroom (Mumbai). With the inclusion of the new and optional ABS unit the motorcycles would witness a price bump by Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 30,000.
DSK Benelli has received an overwhelming response from both the motorcycles. One of the main reasons was the attractive pricing of TNT 600i and TNT 600GT. Both motorcycles at launch were not offered with ABS even as an option, which kept a few buyers adrift from the brand.
