Bridgestone Could Provide Two-Wheeler Tyres In India
Bridgestone India is planning to enter the highly profitable and huge two-wheeler segment in the country. Internationally they provide tyres for both four-wheelers and two-wheelers.
The company's India head said they would like to compete aggressively in the two-wheeler segment. He also confirmed that so far no concrete plans have been made for the future.
Bridgestone India has not confirmed which segment they would be targeting. In our opinion, it would be best to offer their tyre range for superbikes and then offer tyres to models below that slowly yet steadily.
Currently, Bridgestone is providing their Battlax range of tyres in MotoGP competition. They will be exiting at the end of 2015 Championship and Michelin will be taking over as the sole tyre provider.
They recently launched their Ecopia range of tyre for passenger vehicles in the country. Bridgestone claims these new tyres will improve fuel efficiency and also provide superior tyre life.
Ecopia currently is available in two options for Indian market called EP150 and EP850. These tyres can be used in hatchbacks and compact sedans while the second tyre can be used in SUV models.
Bridgestone announced that the Ecopia EP150 tyre will improve fuel efficiency by seven percent. The Ecopia EP850 would boost fuel efficiency figures up by ten percent, which will have customers constantly smiling.
The EP150 tyre will further be available in a wide variety of 17 tyre sizes. Bridgestone will be providing their EP850 tyre with nine size options to suit every need of the customer and vehicle.
