BMW To Incorporate Alpinestars Airbag Technology in BMW Riding Jackets
BMW Motorrad and Alpinestars will work together to make BMW riding gear safer by incorporating an airbag system in their clothing.
The first product that will launch will be a riding jacket, that will use Alpinestars airbag technology and have an airbag waistcoat.
The jacket will feature both the BMW and Alpinestars names on it and will be available for male and female riders. It will be launched in the market later this year.
Alpinestars' Tech-Air airbag system is the world's first self-contained street airbag system that functions independently without any sensors to be installed on the motorcycle or a need to link a specific motorcycle to the airbag system used by the rider.
This kind of system will give the rider maximum safety, regardless the motorcycle he is riding or on the kind of surface he is riding.
The jacket and airbag waistcoat will offer comprehensive upper body protection including shoulders, back and frontal torso. The sensors in the airbag system is close to the rider so it does not need any sort of wireless signal from the motorcycle to trigger the airbag.
