Yamaha R25 Launching On 20th Of May 2014
Yamaha fans are in for a surprise, the Japanese two wheeler giant will be launching their quarter-litre sports bike the R25 on 20th of May, 2014. Yamaha has teased the bike for a while now and it was expected that the bike would not be ready till 2015.
Yamaha seems to have pulled something special from their hat and will be competing with its Japanese rivals in the quarter-litre segment now. The tuning fork company will be arriving to the party late, since all of its rivals already have a 250cc in most markets.
If you can recollect the success that their 150cc, YZF-R15 achieved after its launch. We can say it with pride that Yamaha changed the entire biking scenario in India. The bike was an instant hit with racing fans as it was designed with the help of their MotoGP crew.
Yamaha had earlier in the year teased the R25 with their superstar rider Valentino Rossi affirming that the bike packs a punch. In the video it was clear that the bike was still a prototype and had a long way to go.
There is a bad news too Yamaha hasn't confirmed where they are launching the R25. We presume that the bike will be launched first in Indonesia and then should come to India within the year itself. It will be interesting to see the price at which they plan to sell their 250cc sport bike.
The cost will be factored, whether the R25 sports a single cylinder or a parallel twin engine. If It is a single cylinder motorcycle, it should be priced aggressively against Honda's CBR250R. If It is twin cylinder mill expect it to be priced closer to what Hyosung's GT250R and Suzuki's Inazuma.
We have seen several spy images of the Yamaha R25 however, we are waiting if the Japanese manufacturer surprises everyone with almost similar design to the prototype version. They had showcased the prototype at the 2014 Auto Expo in Greater Noida, Delhi.
