Sarolea SP7 Reveals Electric Superbike
Sarolea was the first Belgian company that produced motorcycles. The company was setup in 1950 by Joseph Sarolea, who began building bicycles in 1982. Now they will be making a comeback in 2014 with a new electric bike called the SP7.
They will be competing in the highly acclaimed Isle of Man TT. It won't be competing against traditional fossil fuel running engines. It will compete in a special race called the Isle of Man TT Zero as well as the eRoadRacing Series by FIM.
Sarolea will be constructing the SP7 mainly of carbon fibre elements. It will sport a monotube frame and a swingarm made up of carbon fibre. The Belgian manufacturer will use lightweight alloys in certain areas to make their bike lighter than the competitors. Sarolea SP7 will weigh close to 200 kilograms.
The SP7 by Sarolea will sport a 180 horsepower motor, which will produce 400 Nm of torque. It will feature no clutch and will have a single speed, driven by a direct chain. The electric bike can achieve 250 km/h and can go from 0-100 km/h in 2.8 seconds.
Sarolea Racing, Project Manager, Torsten Robbens has revealed their SP7 electric bike will be ridden by Robert Wilson. He will sport the number seven on his electric bike at the Isle of Man TT Zero competition.
The race is scheduled for 4th of June and Sarolea will rejoin after an absence of over half a decade. Their current goal is to collect as much information as they can before the race.
