MotoGP 2014 Sepang Test; Strange Outcome

In a bizarre turn of events, during the first practice session, held yesterday in Sepang. The ‘Open Class' riders dominated the top spots. Surprisingly they were faster than most factory teams.

Championship winner of 2013 Marc Marquez, did not participate in the test due to a broken leg. The rookie Champion had injured himself while training in his hometown in Spain. Most of the other riders participated in the Sepang test, which begun on 26th and will continue upto 28th of February.

The First day of Sepang tests seen Alvaro Bautista racing for GO&Fun Honda Gresini on top position with a time of 2:00.848. The top factory rider was Andrea Dovizioso for Ducati team. The Espargaro brothers had a great outing securing second and third positions by Aleix and Pol respectively.

Yamaha Factory Racing's Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi achieved 5th and 7th positions respectively. The Italian Multiple Championship winner blamed Bridgestone and their tyres, for having lack of grip. He soon added that Yamaha and He will have to rework on their tyre strategy.

Repsol Honda Team's sole participant and team mate of Marc Marquez, Dani Pedrosa achieved the 6th fastest time. The Spaniard looked confident all through the first day however, it didn't reflect on the time sheet.

Nicky Hayden now riding for Drive M7 Aspar struggled for pace however, was fastest on Honda's production racer. The American recorded the 10th fastest time which, isn't the best by far. Hayden however, is confident and will fight and collect data for future use.

The Second day has ended and with track grip improving Dani Pedrosa of Repsol Honda posts the quickest time of the day. Not far behind is Aleix Espargaro aboard NGM Mobile Forward Racing, Valentino Rossi posted the fourth quickest time.
