Mahindra Plans To Purchase Peugeot Scooter Division
Mahindra & Mahindra is India's largest manufacturer and seller of utility vehicles. They also sell tractors, trucks and also two wheelers. The Indian manufacturer has an array of motorcycles and scooters on offer.
They have been frequently in the new with their upcoming products. Mahindra is expected to launch its Mojo motorcycle, G101 scooter and Scorpio facelift in India within 2014. There are now reports that the Indian automobile giant could tie-up with a French manufacturer to increase growth opportunities.
According to our source Mahindra & Mahindra is all set to buy Peugeot's scooter division. The acquisition will surely boost the Indian manufacturers presence in global markets. They will also benefit by sharing technology and innovations in their forthcoming products.
It will be interesting to see if Mahindra post acquiring Peugeot, would bring the brand to India. Peugeot has made several hints of returning to India, however, always with its four wheeler department. The French manufacturer has a decent line-up of stylish scooters, which would do well in India.
Mahindra has been trying to acquire an international brand for a while now. They were early reported to buy stakes in Aston Martin. However, the Indian manufacturer plans to boost its two wheeler segment and Peugeot could be an ideal choice.
We will have to wait for a confirmation from both Mahindra and Peugeot. We expect an official announcement to be made soon. It will be interesting to see, whether Mahindra becomes a partner or an owner of Peugeot's scooter division. We will provide you with updates as soon as available.
