Mahindra Mojo Almost Ready For Launch
Indian based manufacturer Mahindra Two Wheelers had shown its interest in developing a larger-capacity motorcycle locally. It had showcased its offering the Mojo several times and a close-to-production model was showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo in New Delhi.
The motorcycle is being tested extensively by Mahindra's two wheeler division. We expect the Mojo to be launched by the Indian manufacturer in the coming festive season. The bike being tested looks similar to the one seen at the recent Auto Expo.
Mahindra will provide the Mojo with a 295 cc single cylinder engine, which will be liquid cooled. The engine will produce a maximum power output of 28 PS along with a peak torque of 25 Nm. The engine will sport fuel injection and will be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
The Mojo 300 will sport Pirelli Sport Demon rubber on 17-inch alloy wheels. It will have UpSide Down (USD) front forks and the rear will sport monoshock suspension. The motorcycle will have a dual exhaust system.
Mahindra Mojo looks leaner and sharper than the first model showcased. The dual headlamps have been placed in a fairing along with LED Daytime Running Lights(DRLs). The instrument console will be all digital with an analogue tachometer. Mahindra has given the bike two gold anodized horizontal pipes near the engine, this seems to be their identity.
The competition in quarter-litre segment is on a high and Mahindra will be the latest entrant. Established players like Honda CBR250R, Bajaj Pulsar 200NS, KTM Duke 200 and the soon to be launched Yamaha R25 will give the Indian manufacturer a tough time.
Mahindra has developed and will be manufacturing the Mojo locally. This is its advantage and we believe the motorcycle will be priced aggressively. The Mojo is being tested frequently and it is expected to be launched during the festive season with a price tag of approximately INR 1,50,000 ex-showroom.
